A Wirral pub protests Digital ID
Plans by the government to introduce mandatory ID cards are continuing to face opposition.
As a protest against the cards, a pub in Wirral has changed its name to highlight concerns about civil liberties and data security.
The James Atherton in New Brighton, which also became The Three Bells during Covid, is now ‘The George Orwell 1984’ in reference to the classic dystopian novel.
