A New Wave of African Films Score Film Festival Success
It's been a groundbreaking year for African directors at the world's most prestigious film festivals.
The first Nigerian film in Official Selection at Cannes, My Father's Shadow, took the runner up prize for a Best debut feature film. The Voice of Hind Rajab, by Tunisia's Kaouther Ben Hania, won the Silver Lion at the Venice Film Festival, while 'Cotton Queen' became the first fictional feature film by a Sudanese woman to show at the event.
Now the London Film Festival has programmed seven feature films from Africa. They include the first ever African AI feature film, and a cinematographer searching for Ghana's lost films in 'The Eyes of Ghana.'
