Coronavirus: Conversation with Amy the trucker
We speak to a US woman driving a truck across America as the country battles the pandemic
As America battles the coronavirus pandemic, we have a conversation with Amy, a woman from Georgia driving a truck around the state of Iowa delivering flour. She talks about the difficulty of being away from home but how she is driven by the need to continue earning a wage and “keeping a roof over their heads”. She also discusses the different reactions she has experienced about the virus and social distancing as she travels from state to state.
And as we consider easing lockdowns, one measure being discussed is expanding our “social bubble”; the number of people we can interact with. We hear from people in New Zealand where it’s due to be introduced. And also from Belgium, which is considering the measure.
And our health expert today is Dr Eleanor Murray from Boston University School of Public Health. As we do each day, she will answer listener questions. We will also get her thoughts on the idea of increasing our “social bubbles”.
