His comments follow a meeting between his envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Russian President Putin, who expressed 'cautious optimism' but outlined conditions for a deal. Ukrainian President Zelensky has dismissed these as 'manipulative' stalling tactics. We hear from Jim Townsend who worked for 34 years at the Pentagon and NATO, including 8 years as President Obama's Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy.
