Sudan's brutal civil war

Sudan is currently experiencing one of the world's worst humanitarian emergencies.

We speak to our correspondent Nawal Al-Maghafi who has been on a rare trip to Sudan’s capital Khartoum, one of the key battlegrounds between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary group the RSF, the Rapid Support Forces. She went to see the impact this war has had on the most vulnerable - children.

A warning: Her report contains details some listeners might find upsetting.

Many people are feared injured in a crush after Kenyan police fired teargas and warning shots to disperse surging crowds mourning the late opposition leader, Raila Odinga. We get the latest from our correspondent.

This week we are checking in with communities in Israel and Gaza to explore the impact of the two-year war. Today we hear from a Palestinian family separated by the conflict.

We hear from young people in Germany where the government plans to introduce voluntary military service to boost the country’s national defence.

Presenter: Rahul Tandon.
