Gaz Mawete is one of DR Congo鈥檚 brightest new music stars. He鈥檚 a great dancer and more than capable of producing familiar Congolese dance numbers, but he鈥檚 also pushing the boundaries and dropping more Afrobeats-influenced love ballads.

He tells TIA about his struggle to get signed, and how he has benefited from collaboration with his label. He also reveals that he had no idea his song Olingi Nini would become a viral sensation, but that the key to its success and that of the rest of his music is probably the amount of emotion he puts into it.
