Rethinking food waste

The innovative 'smart labels' on food packaging and feeding fish with whisky waste

Food waste is one of the biggest environmental and economic challenges we face — and much of it happens long before the food reaches our plates. In this episode, we meet the people working to tackle the problem in unexpected ways. In UK supermarkets, smart packaging labels are helping stop waste before it even begins, by adapting expiry dates based on real-time freshness. And in Scotland a start-up is turning whisky waste into fish food.
