Saint Realest
Malawi's Saint Realest gets real about bad relationships, and harmful beliefs.
Saint Realest from Malawi had his first hit, No Love, in 2012. He tells DJ Edu its success was due to him blending dancehall and afrobeats in a way that was unique and new at the time. Since then he’s gone from strength to strength. In 2023 his album Ah Yami won best album of the year in Malawi. It contains hits including Too Much, a song about jaded love, and Ndani, in which Saint Realest talks about the evils of mob justice in Malawi, when elderly people are falsely accused of witchcraft. Ndivailira is Saint Realest’s appeal to young people suffering in relationships to have the courage to move on – they should have faith that better things await them. Saint Realest reveals that when DJ Edu first played one of his songs on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ he was overjoyed and it gave him the confidence to think that he could make it in music.
