An extraordinary spiritual experience characterised by overwhelming love, white light and spiritual beings followed a dramatic train accident for David Ditchfield.
He was dragged under a speeding train in Cambridgeshire and nearly lost his life.
The spiritual encounter happened as he lay in hospital, just before being taken into surgery. But the deep transformation David’s seen in his life has endured, awakening a previously hidden talent for painting and music.
Before the accident, David was drinking heavily, living in debt and working odd jobs as a manual labourer. Now he composes classical music performed by orchestras and paints intricate works of art, including a vivid depiction of Jesus.
Despite his vision of angelic beings and a white tunnel of light, he doesn’t view his life-changing spiritual awakening as a religious experience.
Since publishing his story three years ago, David has captured the interest of a growing online movement keen to understand the link between intense suffering and inexplicable spiritual experiences.
In this programme, he tells his remarkable story and meets the founder of ‘Near Death Experience UK’ who too had a profound spiritual awakening while in a critical condition. Together, they exchange the astonishing changes they underwent and explore how their experiences relate to formal religion.
