The song has also provided a framework for fine solos from his son Nick and long time collaborator Andy Roberts. Lyrically the song is a poetic rant against organised religion, reminiscent of Bob Dylan but withmore inward looking, stream of consciousness approach. Harper’s interior world is accompanied by his accomplished playing but the songs musical focus has always centred on the solo and Jimmy Page’s fine blues rendition on Stormcock is one of the best performances he has ever recorded, including his Zepplin days.
