When Stephanie was sent to London to prepare for her role as a royal, her life took an unexpected turn...

Stephanie Benson (centre) with her husband Jon and their five children

Princess Akua Ohenewaa Asieanem of Kokobin is otherwise known as Stephanie Benson. She's a 34 year old Ghanaian Princess. Her father was a pharmaceutical millionaire who married Queen Nana Boahemah II, his 4th wife. Queen Nana wanted her daughter Stephanie to become Queen after her death. So at 14, Stephanie was sent to Britain to live with her uncle so he could prepare her for the role of Queen.

While working for her uncle at De Beers, Stephanie met Jon, whom she started meeting secretly and they fell in love. To her uncle's horror, but her mothers support, Stephanie accepted Jon's proposal of marriage and the offer of a more sedate family life in Britain.

Well, they now have five beautiful children - but the initial adjustment wasn't easy as Stephanie, used to a life of luxury, couldn't cook or clean and spent money on credit without realising it had to be paid back!

They have made it through though and Stephanie, as well as being a very capable wife and mother, has continued to pursue a career for herself as a jazz singer - the singing Ghanaian Princess...
