Lightning Man

Listen again to this item

Campbell had quite the unexpected blast while out running with his mates - he was struck by lightning...

Campbell recuperating at his Mother's with a Get Well Teddy given by his friends

Campbell Gillespie is lucky to be alive. He has just survived being hit by lightning!

Campbell goes out running every Sunday morning. A few weeks ago he was out with his friends Ray and Norman when suddenly the sky went black and a storm started. Campbell can't remember what happened next but his friends certainly do!

As Campbell was struck by the lightning, he was thrown through the air and landed with incredible force, smashing his face. His friends dragged him out of the deep puddle he landed in so he wouldn't drown but Campbell had by now already suffered the electricity coursing throughout his body and was in critical shape.

Campbell was rushed to hospital while his parents raced down from Scotland. Jack and Mary can only describe what they saw as a nightmare - Campbell looked as if he had been hit by a truck and remained unconscious for 5 days.

Campbell is still recuperating, he's happy to be alive, and surprisingly credits his survival to a memento of his Gran's...
