Lifeboat Community

Listen to the item

Spurn Point is a spit of windswept sand dividing the North Sea from the Humber Estuary and home to one of England's most isolated and closely knit communities.

Everyone here works for the Lifeboat Station - all seven of the crew that is, and their families - that's all! The men work round-the-clock, 7 days a week, in often treacherous seas...so how do they cope living & working in such an intense environment?
