Funeral feast

Listen to the item

When Janet Berry's mother died 16 years ago, she left a freezer full of food. Janet - being a 'waste not, want not' type of person decided to create a feast of her mother's food at her funeral.
All was going well until one guest asked her the recipe for the chocolate cake and Janet said she didn't know because her mother had made it. As her guest tried hard to swallow her mouthful, Janet realised, that not everyone shared her enthusiasm for the 'waste not, want not' approach.

And it wasn't only the contents of her mother's freezer that Janet recycled - as she explains to Michael Rosen.
