Social
Pakistanis in Britain 15ÌýFeb 2008
Huddersfield University
As part of Radio 4's Uncovering Pakistan season Women's Hour looks at social cohesion in the Muslim community.

Woman's Hour today comes live from the University of Huddersfield where as part of Radio 4's Uncovering Pakistan season presenter Jane Garvey is joined by Baroness Warsi, Journalist Farah Khan, and Anjum Anwar, Dialogue Development Officer at Blackburn Cathedral. Women in the Muslim community are seen as the silent majority and in the Pakistani community they face an uphill struggle to be heard outside their own homes. Yet they are being targeted by the government as the key to improving social cohesion. But what is social cohesion and can it succeed where multiculturalism has failed. And what does the future hold for the new generation of British born Pakistanis? Our live audience share their views with the panel on family, religion, education and what it means to be British of Pakistani descent.
