The story of the eternal gem

Over the centuries diamonds have been highly prized and have changed the fortunes of the countries where they have been found. They have also been fought over and even used as currency to finance wars.

The Natural History Museum is currently displaying the biggest ever exhibition of the so called eternal gem. A line up of almost priceless stones is on show, together with jewellery dating from Roman times to the present day.Ìý

Judi Herman went around the exhibition with its curator Alan Hart and Carol Woolton, the Jewellery Editor of Vogue Magazine.
