Birmingham may be traditionally associated with heavy industry, but it is also one of the country's most important centres for the design and manufacture of jewellery. And most of the practitioners are concentrated in one distinctive area of the city centre - the Jewellery Quarter - a square mile of streets lined with Georgian and Victorian buildings that is now a conservation area.Ìý
