Time-addressable media is our approach to transforming how media is handled throughout broadcast media supply chains.

It takes advantage of the ongoing transition to software-based media production to join up the previously disparate domains of live production, fast-turnaround editing, and exchange of versioned programmes & packages. The consistent use of media timelines throughout the content lifecycle and the adoption of cloud-native approaches enables robust, collaborative workflows and a flexible foundation for AI.

We have defined ten principles to communicate the most important aspects of time-addressable media. These align with the MovieLabs 2030 Vision for the future of filmmaking by the major Hollywood studios.

We encourage others in the broadcast industry to adopt the time-addressable media principles to guide development of an ecosystem of tools using common, open approaches to handling media.
