Karlsen conducts Streich, Korth & Hosokawa
Swedish conductor Christian Karlsen leads the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Symphony Orchestra through an evening of captivating new music, beginning with Lisa Streich’s Ishjärta (‘Ice Hearts’), an exploration of whether we can hear and sense contradictory feelings at the same time. Then, composer and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Symphony Orchestra Co-principal HornÌýNicholas Korth’s Inscapes marries timeless images of nature with music for tenor, horn and string orchestra, featuring James Gilchrist and the composer himself as soloists.
Closing out the programme, Toshio Hosokawa’s Circulating Ocean – at a glance, another depiction of nature’s greatest muse, but beneath the surface, an intricate symphonic poem symbolic of human life.
