ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4’s health and wellbeing podcast, What's Up Docs? will be recording a special show before a live audience at the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Theatre in London all about the wonders of the human heart.

The heart is more than just a pump — it's a marvel of engineering and history. In this episode, we're pulling it apart to see how it all works!

Join the doctors and their expert guests on a fascinating journey through the history of our understanding of the heart. They'll explore everything from the ancient Egyptians, who believed the heart was the essence of the soul that determined your path in the afterlife, to pioneers of modern medicine like William Harvey, who discovered in the 17th century that the heart is a pump circulating blood through the body.

They’ll discover how the first heart transplant came to be and reveal the latest breakthroughs in heart science, including the incredible technology behind artificial hearts. And of course as ever, Dr Chris and Dr Xand will be sharing practical, evidence-based tips and takeaways to help you look after your own heart.Ìý

How to be in the audience

Step 1: Apply for tickets

Tickets for this show are being allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so when we receive your ticket request your details are added to the list of applicants. Tickets are usually dispatched from approximately three weeks ahead of the recording date.

Step 2: Receive a message

All eligible requests are allocated tickets in the order they are received, up to the maximum number of available tickets. If successful, we notify you by text message andÌýsendÌýyour e-ticket(s) to your email address. If unsuccessful you will be kept on the waiting list in case anyone cancels their tickets.

Step 3: Bring your tickets and ID

We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people. Remember that every guest must bring original approved photo ID.
