Armaan is a film full of human desires

Armaan deals with the individual hopes and dreams and the extent to which a son goes to fullfill his father's dream.

The story is set against the backdrop of a hospital owned by Dr Sinha who refuses to grow either cynical or indifferent, despite having to struggle with the harsh reality of death and disease.

Akash, his son is an equally devoted doctor, who remains duty-bound to both his profession and his father.

Enter Soniya Kapoor, a rich arrogant young woman, who is used to having her own way in life. Beneath her veneer of defensive sensitivity, Soniya is an individual full of compassion.

But she believes that no one can truly love her for who she truly is. So she decides to 'buy' Akash's love through a financial agreement.

The agreement states that her father, Gulshan will finance the hospital project if Akash marries her daughter.

So Akash is faced with an emotional dilemma in which he is forced to choose between his love for fellow doctor, Neha and his duty towards fulfilling his father's dream.

The story leads to an unusual climax where the characters are forced to tread a fine line between duty, devotion and emotion.

Armaan is a family drama that allows one to explore the intricacy of human relationships.

This film will be screened at UCI Telford in Shropshire from 23rd till 29th May 2003.
