Elise Rayner

Those dulcet tones you hear every weekday evening - between 5 and 7pm - belong to Elise Rayner!

Weekdays 5 to 7pm

I began my broadcasting career in 1989 as a television presenter for HTV and had the delightful task of broadcasting to the whole of the West, Wales and Ireland through the night from 11pm 'til 6am. Actually I probably started it at school when I had to read on national radio aged seven!

After three years on the telly as reporter/presenter for a whole host of programmes, I hung up my clogs, poured myself into some black denim and started off a new adventure as possibly the smallest roadie in the world!

I toured the world with some incredible bands - Meatloaf, The Rolling Stones, Sting to name a few - and cut my touring teeth with Metallica! Hard work, but good times, and yes, it is like Spinal Tap. Many stories to tell, not many broadcastable.

After deciding I didn't want to marry a roadie, I came back home and somehow slotted straight back into life at HTV, this time as the anchorwoman for The West Tonight.

During this time, I was approached by a radio station in Bristol to join their Morning Crew and my radio career began. I loved it, much better than being on the TV and worrying about whatÌýI looked like.

I still prefer having a gentle chuckle with people on the air more than anything.
