He explores the scientists' world, finding out what they are doing when not in the public eye, what are they trying to find out, how they go about establishing new facts and how they guard against error. And with scientists under immense pressure, he examines whether the scientific method is sufficiently robust to withstand these strains and, when science is in the making, whether we need other frameworks to ensure that it remains honest and trustworthy?
