Five programmes exploring the ways in which we decide how far to be honest about ourselves, and in doing so make ourselves vulnerable to the judgements of others. 4. Rosie Rosie was 20 and at university when her son was born. In desperate financial and emotional circumstances, she agreed that he should live with his father while she finished her PhD, but a temporary solution became permanent and from the age of three and a half her son lived apart from her. 38 years on, Rosie at last feels able to be open about what happened and wants to get away from the shame, the guilt and the sorrow that has haunted her for so long. This is her story. Producer Christine Hall.
