Series Paul Temple and the Gregory Affair

1. With the Compliments of Mr Gregory

Paul Temple

Available for 117 days

The daughter of an eminent physician disappears after a night out at the Alpine Club. Starring Crawford Logan and Gerda Stevenson. From 1938 to 1968, Francis Durbridge's incomparably suave amateur detective and his glamorous wife solved case after baffling case in one of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ radio's most popular series. It starred Peter Coke and Marjorie Westbury. Sadly, only half of Temple's adventures survive. However - starting in 2006, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4 began to bring the lost serials back to life. Using the original scripts and incidental music, and recorded using vintage microphones and sound effects, the production of Paul Temple and the Sullivan Mystery aimed to sound as much as like the 1947 original had the recording survived. The popular recreation was soon followed by more revivals - including this one originally heard in 1946 and proved especially challenging. As well as the tapes not being kept, the scripts for episodes 1, 2 and 6 had vanished. This new production was only possible thanks to our colleague in Norwegian radio who found a complete set of scripts in a cupboard in Oslo!! Paul and Steve come to the aid of a baffled Scotland Yard in pursuit of a deadly and mysterious criminal mastermind... Written in ten parts by Francis Durbridge. Paul Temple ...... Crawford Logan Steve ...... Gerda Stevenson Sir Graham ...... Gareth Thomas Inspector Vosper ...... Michael Mackenzie Edward Day ...... Nick Underwood Peter Davos ...... Richard Greenwood Charlie ...... Greg Powrie Kay Wiseman ...... Meg Fraser Producer: Patrick Rayner Original series first broadcast on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Light Programme in December 1946. Recreated and first broadcast on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4 in July 2013
