Timandra Harkness explores the devices and technologies being developed that, in combination with our brain processes, allow the perception of previously un-sensed information about the world around us. As humans, we can perceive less than a ten-trillionth of all light waves. "Our experience of reality," says neuroscientist David Eagleman, "is constrained by our biology." He wants to change that. What if we could experience the world in the same way some animals do? Feel magnetic north like migratory birds, see infrared light like snakes or hear in the ultrasonic frequency range like bats?
