Bells on Sunday comes from St Mary’s Church, Shenley in Buckinghamshire. The 14th century tower houses 6 bells comprising five bells cast by the Gillett and Johnston of Croydon in 1908 and a Tenor bell weighing seventeen and a quarter hundredweight, tuned to E flat that was originally cast by Robert Burford circa 1415. This year the Church is celebrating the 800th anniversary of the presentation of William Mansel the first recorded rector of Shenley. We hear the local band of ringers ringing St Mary’s Bob Doubles.
