Adam Walton asks what the alternatives are to single-use plastic. In a quest to eliminate waste, Dr Jessica Adams from Aberystwyth University, explains how we can utilize macroalgae, oats and aquatic plants. Leon Williams from Plant Sea Ltd, invites us into the lab to see how they turn seaweed into a replacement for plastic. Professors Manuel Gausa and Giorgia Tucci from the University of Genoa in Italy join Adam to discuss bio-materials in their book, ‘Knitting Food: Food and Eco-textiles’. Plus, Dr Adam Charlton from Bangor University’s Bio Composites Centre, shares how we might use things like willow bark and coffee waste to replace plastic. Produced by Stuart Russell.
