In September 1977, Bob introduced a brand new band on his 'Old Grey Whistle Test' programme, performing at London's Music Machine venue - they were The Boomtown Rats. Fast forward a few decades and the band are releasing a new anthology of The Boomtown Rats called ‘The First 50 Years – Songs of Boomtown Glory’. Bob Geldof joins Bob Harris on the show to chat about the origins of The Boomtown Rats, their early years and memories of starting out on a pioneering rock'n'roll career.
