Kathryn Tickell presents a studio session from Argentinian bandoneonist Carlos Quilici. Hailing from Rosario in the province of Santa Fe, Quilici is a masterful exponent of tango in its various guises and a musician whose family history is intertwined in the story of the music’s growth in the twentieth century. Alongside live renditions of tango repertoire, Carlos reflects on the influence of his father, Gerardo - a renowned broadcaster famous for his radio programme ‘A todo tango’ - and shares a classic canción from Carlos Gardel. Elsewhere in the show, new tracks from hardanger fiddle-player Benedicte Maurseth, folk legend Martin Carthy, Swiss-Eritrean group Yalla Miku, and some Gnawa-inspired Brazilian jazz from Me and My Friends.
