Gideon Coe plays the music he loves from every era and genre. A tribute to multi-instrumentalist, Danny Thompson. Recently, the music world mourned the loss of Danny Thompson, who passed away at the age of 86. A founder of Pentangle, Thompson was a multi-instrumentalist; a musical collaborator who is said to have started his career as a teenage jazz bassist, having fashioned his first bass from a tea chest aged just 13. Tonight, Gideon celebrates Thompson's versatile presence in British music. Expect a carefully crafted tribute to the musician who, across six decades, played alongside many names, including John Martyn, Nick Drake, Everything But the Girl, Graham Coxon, The The, David Sylvian, Kate Bush and Talk Talk, to name but a few. Produced in Salford by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Audio for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 6 Music.
