Blur - The Great Escape

Long Player with Steven Rainey

Available for 9 days

In 1995, Britpop was at its absolute height. New bands were popping up every day, but right at the top of the class were Blur and Oasis. And this rivalry went overground when both band's released singles on the same day, and fought it out for the number one spot. The Battle of Britpop went down in history, but little did we know that it was the beginning of the end for this scene. And charting that decline was Blur's fourth album, The Great Escape. Darker in tone than Parklife, this time round the band were waking up to the fact that the party had stopped being fun, chronicling the lives of people who were in danger of disappearing into the crowd to be completely forgotten.
