Like the cyborg killing machine it’s named for, James Cameron’s 1984 sci-fi action classic The Terminator is a blockbuster that simply refuses to die. And this month, a new concert inspired by the film is coming to Glasgow. The signature synthesiser-led, percussive score will be performed live by The Avex Ensemble while the film plays on a vast HD screen. The result brings American composer Brad Fiedel’s film score to life in a bold new way. He tells us what it was like revisiting his work from over 40 years ago in preparation for the live experience and gives some insights into how he came up with the most distinctive sounds of the film. Len hears about a new production from Scottish dance-theatre company Shotput. It’s the Scottish premiere of Arlington by Enda Walsh, whose other works include the screenplay for Hunger, starring Michael Fassbender, and the film adaptation of the novel Small Things Like These, starring Cillian Murphy, as well as the book for the hit musical Once. Arlington is set in a world dominated by surveillance and control, and it's coming to Cumbernauld, Edinburgh and Glasgow in the next few days.
