Settle in for a 30-minute soundscape of classical music by your favourite composers. Tonight's classical mixtape begins with Kurtag's tender arrangement of Bach's Cantata No.106 'Actus Tragicus', reimagined for piano duet. Next, Tchaikovsky's Souvenir d'un lieu cher for violin and orchestra sweeps in. The mood shifts with sparkling dialogue between clarinet and piano that dances with charm and wit in his Sonata in E flat major. Sarah Rimkus' plunges us into the haunting choral work, My heart is like a singing bird - a piece that lingers in the air - followed by Scriabin's Nocturne No.2 for solo piano. Ravel's Prelude from Le tombeau de Couperin opens the second half of the mixtape, arranged for soprano saxophone and orchestra. We skip lightly through Schumann's fifth Papillon, a fluttering piano miniature. Finally, tonight's classical mixtape closes with a flourish - the Largo from Telemann's Concerto in E minor for flute, recorder and strings. Producer: Zara Siddiqi
