It's sometimes hard to imagine it, but there was a time when U2 weren't the biggest band in the known universe. Back at the end of the 1970s, fired up by punk rock, four young men from Dublin set out to take on the world. And at that stage of the proceedings, it wasn't entirely clear how they would do that. And while they had their own sound, even at this stage, U2 didn't quite fit the mould of what the music press were looking for. This is the story of how they came to assemble one of the most audacious debut albums of all time, and how it set them on the path for world domination.
