Sierra Leone special

World Football

Available for over a year

In a special edition of World Football, Chris Mitchell travels to Sierra Leone for the opening of the Craig Bellamy Academy. The Manchester City striker - who has often courted controversy - talks candidly about his troubled past, his future and explains why he is so focused on West Africa. We also hear from leading football figures in Sierra Leone including the President of the Sierra Leone FA, Nahim Kahdi, who claims that Bellamy has been disrespectful. "I welcome anybody that is coming to develop football in Sierra Leone," Kahdi says. "But out of principle Craig Bellamy has never spoken to me. I cannot go to England and say I want to do something without contacting the English FA. I think that's a bit disrespectful." And Dr Minkailu Bah, the Minister for Sport tells us there has been a complete breakdown in communication between the Sierra Leone FA and the government.
