Rajan puts these points to Pam Poole, the Sport editor for the World Service, who is robust in defence of her department’s coverage – and of the importance of sport as a reflection of society. Rajan also looks into the relationship between celebrities and the media – following criticism by Michael Jackson’s brother, in a World Service interview this week, that he and his family have been victims of negative media coverage in order to sell newspapers and attract large radio and TV audiences.
