Westminster Hour

Available for over a year

What are the chances of the party leaders again taking party in live televised debates at the next general election? Until the last election we'd never had them in this country but they were hailed by many as a huge success, with audience figures peaking at more than nine million. Televised leader debates are now held at election time in 80 countries - including Iran, Mongolia and Afghanistan. In the United States it's now just about impossible for a presidential candidate to refuse to take part. So surely, you might think, they'll happen again in Britain in 2015? As Leala Padmanabhan has been finding out, it's far from certain.
