Shahbaz Hussain started learning to play the tabla at the age of five and went on to study under legends like Ustad Faiyaz Khan and Ustad Shaukat Hussain Khan. His study culminated with learning under the one and only Ustad Allah Rakha Khan. Having performed at venues including Washington's Smithsonian Institute and London's Royal Albert and Queen Elizabeth Halls, he was awarded the title "Son of Lahore" by the Pakistani government for services to the art of Tabla.
