City of Culture 2017: Kate Unwin

Jim Davis

Available for over a year

When you think about Leicester as the possible City of Culture, you might think of the big theatres like Curve or smaller venues like Crumbling Cookie which provide opportunities to experience cultural activities from musicals to comedy and poetry. But it's always going to be people who are passionate about the arts who make that happen. So in the run-up to the announcement about whether Leicester has made it onto the shortlist for City of Culture 2017, I'm going in search of those people. Kate Unwin is a fashion designer and theatrical set and costume designer who studied at De Montfort University and now runs two studios in the region creating clothing and costumes. Jim Davis went to meet her in her workshop and see some of her work.
