Tourists flock to Scotland for its scenery and wildlife. The Atlantic salmon and the white-tailed sea eagle are two of our most popular - and lucrative - attractions. But to thrive, both species need support from conservationists. Salmon numbers have been declining in recent years, so conservationists and river authorities are working hard to boost the population, as a class of children discover when they visit a hatchery near where they live in Speyside. Over on Mull, the white-tailed sea eagle is another huge draw for tourists. These giant birds, with a wingspan of 2.5m, were hunted to extinction in the last century, but have been reintroduced and are now being protected by the RSPB.
