Alan is a former professional footballer for Leicester City. Aged 31, life as he knew it - changed. He was forced to retire from the game he loved due to a progressive back injury. It was also around this time that his marriage ended, and he had to move away from his family - leading to some of the darkest moments of his life. His daughter Sophie - now 21 - lives in Switzerland and so they don't see each other as often as they would like.
