Alison Hargreaves

Woman's Hour

Available for over a year

“A great climb marred by tragedy” is a description of the six north face ridges of the Swiss alpine mountains. Alison Hargreaves explains why she chose to attempt these six, highly dangerous, descents alone and discusses the pressure of climbing whilst having a young family. She recalls the mental pressure of finding the body of another climber on the Eiger, which led to her dramatic helicoptered rescue from the mountain. Alison Hargreaves died whilst climbing K2 in 1995.
