"I wouldn't like to be employed based on my race"

Mark Dean

Available for over a year

There have been numerous calls in recent months for police forces to do more to better reflect Britain's diverse communities. But a proposal to introduce a legal requirement for the number of black and ethnic minority officers recruited by the police, has been declined. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Office Minister Damian Green rejected Labour MP Jonathan Ashworth's calls for the Government to introduce a quota, saying it would create more problems than it would solve. In this extract, Franstine Jones, President of the National Black Police Association, talks to the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Mark Dean about the pros and cons of quotas.
