Hathern, Leicestershire: Shelter From Explosives

World War One At ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½

Available for over a year

Today there is an abandoned air to a small industrial estate in Hathern near Loughborough. But during World War One, the Hathern Brick and Terracotta Company which was based here was the hub of a very special contribution to the war effort. The company learnt new techniques to make special acid resistant materials to store explosives. This not only helped the British government, but ensured the company’s survival.
