Birmingham City Council to sell NEC Group

Adrian Goldberg

Available for over a year

Birmingham's NEC Group has been put up for sale by Birmingham City Council. The council, facing a £1.1bn bill for equal pay settlements, says it wants to ensure the existing uses are preserved. It says the group is "vitally important" to the West Midlands economy, bringing in £2bn a year and supporting 29,000 jobs. Adrian Goldberg spoke to the leader of Birmingham City Council, Sir Albert Bore, and Paul Thandi, CEO of the NEC Group about the reasons behind the sale and the future of places like the NIA, ICC and LG Arena.
