Corruption in Cambodia has allegedly become a pervasive problem as the country enjoys an economic boom. Ed Butler travels to Phnom Penh to find out for himself. He hears from an estate agent about how the capital city is blossoming with construction sites and Western restaurant chains. He also speaks to farmers who complain that the cost of bribery imposes a heavy toll on their lives. An anonymous government clerk admits to sharing in kickbacks, and Ed puts the allegations of ministries pocketing the profits on corrupt public property sales to the new Commerce Minister Chanthol Sun. He also hears from Kol Preap of Transparency International about why Cambodia ranks one of the lowest on their metrics of graft among countries in the region.
