From headscarves to football scarves

Yasmeen Khan

Available for over a year

Look around your average football crowd and you won't see many hijabi girls, but next Saturday over 100 hijabi women from the local South Asian community will go en masse to Kenilworth Road to cheer on Luton town. Many of them will be visiting a football ground for the first time. It's all part of a campaign called 'from Headscarves to Football scarves' designed to encourage more Asian women to take an interest in football. In this extract Iman Rashid from Luton who wears a hijab and has been playing football since she was a child talks to Yasmeen Khan on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ 3 Counties Radio about how much the game means to her..
