Brother of Lee Rigby killer: 'It was trial by public'

5 Live In Short

Available for over a year

The whole life sentence given to Michael Adebolajo for the killing of soldier Lee Rigby in Woolwich is unjust, his brother has said. Jeremiah Adebolajo also says he's still close to his brother, and they are both sorry for the distress caused to Fusilier Rigby's young son. Michael Adebolajo, 29, and Michael Adebowale, 22, drove into Fusilier Rigby with a car before hacking him to death in Woolwich, in May 2013. Michael Adebolajo was given a whole-life term and Michael Adebowale was jailed for a minimum of 45 years for the murder at their sentencing in February. The judge, Mr Justice Sweeney, said Michael Adebolajo's was one of those "rare cases" which warranted a whole-life term.
