Kamila Shamsie has written a lot about her home city of Karachi but her last two novels have spanned several continents and decades in history from Nagasaki to 9/11, from the excavation of India’s ancient history to its nascent independence movement. She talks to Razia Iqbal about why she is drawn to the themes of loyalty and belonging.
